Some things I like on the internet August 30, 2011

Mini Eco has loads of cool crafts for kids and adults and there are plenty of tutorials. I love this garland and it makes me wish I had a sewing machine, even though I am terrible with them! Click the picture for full tutorial.

Imagine Awesome takes childrens’ pictures and turns them into something amazing. From the author: “Kids have the ability to come up with some pretty amazing things, but not always the ability to draw exactly what they were imagining. I’m here to help make those drawings come a little bit closer to reality.”

Pinterest. Oh my good god. What a MASSIVE time-suck. If you haven’t joined up yet, don’t. Save yourselves! No seriously, it is good. It’s a really handy way to keep track of all the cool things you find on the internet that you think you’d like to go back to and then never get around to. The bit I like best about it though is just trawling through everything that everybody else has pinned. I could waste hours this way.

Sleep Talkin’ Man. Quite frankly I think this is hilarious. But be warned, it may not be suitable for those of a sensitive disposition. Especially those who don’t like swears.

Treasury Tuesday: Local to me

Filed under: Treasury Tuesday — Alison @ 12:21 pm

I didn’t even know you could choose the “shop local” button on etsy until Abby suggested this theme so that was interesting in itself, and it was nice to see that there are plenty of sellers in Bath. I set myself the extra challenge of only choosing one item from each seller, but some shops made this difficult, especially this one and this one.

See more at Abby’s blog little red buttons.

Mid-year Resolutions August 29, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — Alison @ 12:14 pm

Whenever new years eve comes around and people ask me what my resolutions are, I always say I don’t do new years resolutions because I don’t need it to be January 1st to resolve to make a change. Like I don’t need it to be February 14th to tell someone I love them. And lately I’ve been thinking about things I should start doing/ do more of/ do less of. So here is a short list.

1. Find a job. Obviously.
2. Pay more attention to the news and current affairs. And I mean serious news like Libya and the economy. Not which celebrity has shacked up with which or what the latest “scandal” on X Factor is.
3. Make more meals from scratch. I’m always buying jars for things like chili con carne and bolognaise and I’m sure I could be making these myself which would be cheaper and healthier. Especially as I’m not working at the moment so I have the time.
4. Drink more water. And less bad stuff like alcohol, coke and fruit juice (bad for the teeth).

When I left my old house my friend Amanda gave me this cute packed lunch bag as a leaving present. Of course she knew I would love the butterfly fabric! She also makes these great foldaway bags that turn into a tiny strawberry – so ingenious! Check out her other wares here.

Treasury Tuesday: Decorate a room August 23, 2011

Filed under: Treasury Tuesday — Alison @ 1:56 pm

This week’s theme was “redecorate any room in your home”. I didn’t have a particular room in mind when I selected these items, just picked things I liked that I thought would go together. I seem to have come up with a kind of shabby chic/country cottage feel with a bit of turquoise thrown in there. I like the London cushion because it reminds me of where I used to live, and I like the kimono cushion just because I think it’s a great idea because so many kimono are really beautiful.

See little red buttons for more.
